In order to further improve the running level of World History Studies, an English edition of World History, the Editorial Committee and expert meeting of World History Studies, jointly organized by the editorial department of World History Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and School of History and Culture of NENU, was held at NENU on November 3. More than 20 scholars from Peking University, Xiamen University, Sichuan University, Shanghai Normal University, Northwest University, Central China Normal University, editorial department of World History and NENU attended the meeting. The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Dong Haozhi of School of History and Culture.
At the opening ceremony, Professor Han Dongyu, vice president of NENU, and Wang Zhaoguang, director of World History Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences as well as editor in chief of World History delivered speeches successively. Han Dongyu pointed out that foreign journals play an important role in promoting the academic achievements of Chinese academia to the world. The generation of sages represented by Mr. Lin Zhichun of NENU made a pioneering attempt in this respect, and founded the first English edition Journal of Ancient Civilizations in China. Wang Zhaoguang pointed out in his speech that the original intention of World History Studies is to promote the research results of Chinese young and middle-aged scholars to foreign academic circles, and to provide a platform for Chinese academic circles to understand the frontier of foreign world history research. At present, the journal is also facing many problems. He hopes to strengthen communication with experts and scholars and editors of English journals through the convening of this meeting, and jointly improve the editing level of periodicals.
