Recently, Xu Xiaoyan, a year-3 undergraduate from the School of Environment of NENU, has stood out in the national youth selection. As one of the five Chinese youth representatives, she, along with the delegation of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, will participate in the 21st Tripartite Environment Ministers Meeting Youth Forum held in Kitakyushu, Japan from November 22nd to 25th. The youth representatives of China, Japan and Korea will exchange ideas on the theme of “Imagine, Create, Action. Transforming our society to be sustainable for everyone.”, and the results of the forum will be presented to the environmental ministers of the three countries at the 21st Tripartite Environment Ministers Meeting.
The Tripartite Environment Ministers Meeting (TEMM) is a ministerial meeting initiated by China, Japan and Korea in 1999. It is the highest level cooperation mechanism in the environmental field in Northeast Asia. Since 2011, the Youth Forum has been held simultaneously during the TEMM to enhance mutual understanding among Chinese, Japanese and Korean youths and to promote the exchanges of information and cooperation among young people in the three countries. Representatives of the Youth Forum are invited to participate in the TEMM to present the results of the forum to the Ministers of Environment of the three countries. This forum has become one of the highlights of TEMM and has been well received by the environmental ministers of the three countries.
