The Department of Marxism Launched the Teaching Reform Practice Activity of “Co-Building Classes” for Junior High School Students Entering University Campus

Published:June 10, 2021 Review:

On the afternoon of June 7th, 6 first-year junior high school students and parent representatives from Mingzhu campus of the Middle School Affiliated to Northeast Normal University and the teachers and students of the School of Social Sciences of the Department of Marxism jointly launched the activity of “Co-Building Classes” for junior high school students entering university with the theme of “When 12 years old meet 21 years old”. The activity was based on the undergraduate professional courses of “Social Work Research”. In response to the puzzles raised by junior high school students on the spot, the teachers and students of sociology conducted targeted responsive and fruitful interactions on the scene.

During the activity, six junior high school students talked about some of the problems they encountered in their study and life, including problems with teachers and elders, how to overcome frustrations in the face of blame, and how to overcome tension in different situations. Subsequently, the present undergraduates responded to the questions raised by the junior high school students based on their personal experience and professional knowledge, combined with professional skills such as listening and sympathy in social work to answer the problems encountered by the junior high school students in turn. Finally, the lecturer combined with the content discussed by the students, explained the hidden principles of sociology and social work in an easy-to-understand tone from the professional perspective of social work, and put forward “The dilemma faced by the age of 12 will gain a new understanding at the age of 21.”, which aroused the resonance of the students present.

The junior high school period is the main growth period of mental maturity, and it is an important stage of the social development of every social person. This activity of “Co-Building Classes” for junior high school students entering university provides a platform for the junior high school students to share, interact and experience, which improves the sense of social participation and self-confidence of junior high school students, and also provides practical opportunities for college students to apply what they have learned in the classroom to their daily lives. While using professional knowledge, they also improve the ability of reflection and understanding. This “Co-Building Classes” activity is also another tentative exploration of a new teaching practical reform in the teaching of sociology undergraduates in NENU. The meet of “12-year-old and 21-year-old” came to a successful conclusion in the enthusiastic exchanges and interactions between the two sides.
