On October 16th, under the vigorous guidance of the Ministry of Education, StateLanguage Commission, China Media Group, Jilin Provincial Language Commission, Jilin Provincial Department of Education and other relevant departments, undertaken by the College of Arts of NENU and the National Language Promotion Base of NENU, the 7th season of “Chinese Poetry Competition” (Jilin Division) provincial interview selection was held in Changchun City. More than 200 contestants from across the province participated in this selection. NENU sent 24 contestants from the College of Arts, School of Mathematics and Statistics, School of Physics, School of Marxism, School of Geography, School of Media Sciences (Journalism), School of Psychology, International School of Chinese Studies (School of Overseas Education), School of Foreign Languages, School of Chemistry, School of Political Science and Law to participate in this provincial interview.
The judges are composed of CCTV director group and provincial poetry research experts and scholars. Among the contestants, the youngest is 7 years old and the oldest is 45 years old. The interview includes self-introduction, four-person flying order (a traditional word game played by the ancient people when drinking, where the participants take turns to recite a poem), and one-on-one questions. Among them, the flying order mainly tests the contestants’ reserves of poem, and one-on-one questioning allows the judges to learn more about the contestants’ abilities and personal characteristics. Contestants use poetry to make friends, explore ancient knowledge, launch a feast of poetry exchanges, and fully demonstrate the charm of traditional Chinese culture.
