Recently, a team made up of four Grade 2021 undergraduates majoring in geographic information science from School of Geographical Sciences won “Special Award” in National College Student GIS Application Skill Contest. The four students are Wang Nan, Liang Chengcheng, Ouyang Lingjing, and Li Yuzhu. This is the third time that students from School of Geographical Sciences won this reputation after the fifth contest and the ninth one. Guo Xiaoyi and Wang Nan, teachers from School of Geographical Sciences, won “Excellent Instructor Award”. National College Student GIS Application Skill Contest, a national professional geographic information science technology contest, was jointly held by China Association for Geospatial Information Society and Geographical Society of China. Almost one thousand teachers and students from 163 institutions of higher learning went in for this contest.
In recent years, School of Geographical Sciences focuses on cultivation of top-notch innovative talents, and pays great attention to the development of students’ creativity and practical ability. Students’ independent innovation ability has been significantly improved, and has constantly made great achievements in various national professional contests.
