At the meeting, the two schools respectively reported the basis, scheme and plan of the newly-added ice and snow sports and German majors for undergraduate on the basis of full research and evidence in the early stage. Experts at the meeting fully affirmed NENU’s adjustment of newly-added majors in combination with the development of the times, regional characteristics and school positioning, and believed that the ice and snow sports major serves the national strategic goals for sports development, and serves the needs of building a strong ice and snow country and a healthy China; German majors focus on the needs of country’s development of new liberal arts and the training of foreign language talents which reflect the cross-training of compound talents with world history, philosophy, pedagogy and other disciplines. At the same time, in-depth exchanges and discussions was conducted with the teachers of the schools on issues such as “feasibility analysis of professional development planning”, “professional development and discipline construction”, “professional development and student employment”, and specific suggestions and proposals were put forward for the two professional development plans and the student talent training plan, which pointed out that it is necessary to further emphasize the professional construction ideas of high starting point, distinctive features, innovation-driven, and strong crossover.
Wei Min, director of the Academic Affairs Office, mentioned in his summary that the adjustment of undergraduate newly-added majors is a key measure for NENU to seize new opportunities for the reform on higher education based on the concept of connotative development. The adjustment of majors in the school should emphasize long-term planning and target positioning, straighten out the relationship between the newly-added majors and the existing majors, strengthen the professional characteristics, and pay attention to the intersection of disciplines.
In recent years, NENU has continuously standardized the adjustment process of admission majors, and the adjustment of admission majors focuses on overall planning, high-level demonstration and overall coordination. In the future optimization and adjustment of the professional structure, NENU will continue to implement the basic principles of “upgrade stock, optimize increment, and reduce margin”, and in accordance with the “Measures of Professional Construction Management”, strengthen the construction of professional connotation, strictly control the quality of profession, and strive to be first-class undergraduate majors to promote the construction of first-class normal universities.
