In order to thoroughly implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, strive to build a team of teachers with strong political awareness, deep feelings, new thinking, broad vision, strict self-discipline, and positive personality, and give full play to the key courses of morality and education in ideological and political courses, from August 26th to 30th, the Faculty of Marxism of NENU held a training class for backbone teachers of ideological and political theory courses in colleges and universities of the Publicity Department of CPC and the Ministry of Education (No. 22009). 40 teachers of ideological and political courses from 22 colleges and universities in Jilin Province participated in the offline training, and teachers of the national ideological and political course “Ideology, Morality and the Rule of Law” participated in the online training simultaneously.
Professor Meng Xiansheng, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Faculty of Marxism, pointed out in his opening speech that the backbone teacher training activities are specific measures to implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on education, especially the spirit of the important speech at the ideological and political theory teacher symposium. It is hoped that through this training, the demonstration training of unified textbooks and courseware will be further improved, the construction of ideological and political teachers will be strengthened, the construction of regional cooperative communities of ideological and political courses will be increased, and the sense of acquisition of ideological and political courses will be continuously enhanced for college students.
In the theoretical teaching session, Professor Xie Yujin, deputy dean of the Faculty of Marxism, Central University of Finance and Economics, gave a special lecture on the teaching theme of “comprehend the true meaning of life and grasp the direction of life”, and analyzed the design concept and teaching objectives, teaching characteristics and methods of use of the new courseware for “Ideology, Morality and the Rule of Law”, provided important guidance for the transformation of ideological and political teaching from the textbook system to the teaching system. Professor Yu Yifan, deputy dean of the Faculty of Marxism of Nankai University, started from the orientation of the topic of outlook on life teaching in the curriculum system and students’ cognitive system, with “reasoning” as the main line, and analyzed the main ideas and materials of courseware compilation from a theoretical perspective, which provided guidance to help students systematically grasp the theoretical connotation. Associate Professor Luo Xiangheng of the Faculty of Marxism of NENU gave a model lesson demonstration to guide students to correctly deal with the practical problems encountered in the process of growth. The teaching process reflects the teaching philosophy of “starting from the needs of growth”.
In the structural discussion session, Kong Jiejun, the executive deputy secretary of Faculty of Marxism of NENU, Ke Honggang, the director of “Ideology and Morality and Rule of Law”, and other teachers and all the students in the seminar discussed the foundation of learning situation, important and difficult problems, reform of teaching methods and resource construction.
In the dynamic practice session, Qi Songyu, a representative of the National People’s Congress, the chief skill master of FAW Group, and a national labor model, conducted on-site teaching at the China FAW Hongqi Exhibition Hall, showing the spiritual quality of craftsmen in a great country to overcome difficulties, innovate and create, and pursue excellence. The trainees also visited the Memorial Hall of Comrade Zheng Derong, the “Red Theorist”. The trainees said, “As a teacher of ideological and political courses in colleges and universities, we must always take Mr. Zheng Derong as an example, and strive to become an ideological and political master with firm stance, excellent theory, profound feelings and noble character.”
This training activity has built a learning and exchange platform for ideological and political teachers in colleges and universities across the country, and provided an effective way to improve the professional quality of ideological and political teachers in colleges and universities and enhance the teaching quality of ideological and political courses.
