In order to better translate and introduce General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on education, and to spread new ideas and viewpoints of China’s educational development in the international community, Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press and Higher Education Press publish Understanding Xi Jinping’s Educational Philosophy (English Version), which is translated by experts from Beijing Foreign Studies University under organization of the Ministry of Education.
The Chinese version of the key textbook Understanding Xi Jinping’s Educational Philosophy of Marxist Theory Research and Construction Project, compiled by the Ministry of Education and edited by Professor Yang Xiaohui of NENU, was published in July 2020. It consists of an introduction and nine chapters, and comprehensively and systematically expounds General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important exposition on education. It is an important part of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s thoughts on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, which opens up a new realm of Marxist educational thought, and provides a fundamental follow-up and action guide for accelerating the modernization of education, building a powerful nation of education, and running a satisfactory education for the people.
The English version is faithful to the original meaning of the source text, and at the same time, it adapts to the reading habits of overseas readers in the form of expression, characterized by accurate expression, standardized language and fluent style of writing. It helps readers to deeply understand the background, great significance, main contents of the educational reform and development in China in the new era and the ways of realization as well. The publication of the English version is of great significance to deeply understand the rich connotation of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important exposition on education.
