Recently, the exhibition “Writing about Knowledge in the Book-scented NENU-Contemporary Exhibition of Scholars’ Calligraphy of NENU” jointly organized by the Library and the College of Arts opened in the lobby of the library of Ziyou Campus of NENU. Present at the opening ceremony were Han Lijun, vice chairman of Jilin Calligraphers Association, president of Jilin Provincial Museum, Xie Xiaomeng, editor-in-chief of Kanto Journal, Wen Jia, an art critic, and more than 50 teachers and students of our school.

This time, more than 120 calligraphy works by more than 60 famous scholars in the field of humanities and arts in China were exhibited, including Ding Fan, Huang Weiliang, Jiang Shuzhuo, Li Xinyu, Liu Shi, Luo Sangui, Ning Jiayu, Wang Yao, Wu Chengxue, Wu Liyang, Yang Kuanghan and Zhu Shoutong, mainly in the form of small notes, covering different types such as letters, diaries and manuscript pages. This exhibition is one of the series activities of promoting excellent traditional culture in our school library, which lasts for two weeks.
At the opening ceremony, Han Lijun pointed out that this scholar calligraphy exhibition has its own characteristics from the identity of the author to the nature of the works, which is of great positive significance for strengthening the relationship between calligraphy culture and humanities. Wen Jia pointed out that this activity embodies the individual pursuit and cultural consciousness of scholars, and shows a brand-new look of domestic scholars towards the artist’s heart. Hao Mingyu, secretary of the General Party Branch of our library, expressed the hope that through the exhibition, more college students can feel the charm of Chinese calligraphy art, take calligraphy as the carrier, continue the Chinese context, cultivate cultural feelings and strengthen cultural self-confidence. Zhao Qiang, a professor of the College of Arts, believed that expressing feeling and showing life is a reflection of the practical value of calligraphy. This exhibition is of great significance in many aspects for inspiring the atmosphere and restoring the close relationship between calligraphy and academics. Professor Xu Qiang introduced the background of the exhibition, and said that the Research Center of New Literature Manuscripts and Documents is committed to discovering the manuscript civilization and advocating the humanities to protect the handwriting habit, so as to carry on the tradition and maintain the temperature connection between the academic circles and the mother tongue culture.
