Zhao Jing, Director of Teacher Development Department of Teacher Affairs Department of Ministry of Education, Zhang Dongyan, Deputy Secretary General of China Teacher Development Foundation, Chen Liang, Deputy General Manager of Science Press, Yang Yu, Director of Editorial Department of Modern Education Management, and Wang Yan, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee of NENU attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. At the meeting, Zhao Jing believed that the report formed a theoretical achievement in the field of teacher education with Chinese characteristics, which was rooted in the local, reality-based and development-oriented, and provided scientific and reasonable policy reference and objective and true data support for the future reform and development of teacher education in the country. Zhang Dongyan said that the report has important theoretical value and practical significance in responding to teachers’ professional development, improving the regional quality of basic education and cultivating educator-oriented teachers, which fully demonstrates the school-running characteristics of Northeast Normal University, which is rooted in China and serves basic education. Wang Yan pointed out that in the face of the proposition of “Chinese path to modernization” in the new era, education should give full play to its fundamental, leading and overall role and embark on a new road of Chinese-style education modernization. Northeast Normal University will continue to share the new wisdom of the development of teachers’ professional team with colleagues and experts from all sides and contribute to the development of national teachers’ team in the new era.
Subsequently, Professor Li Guang, Executive Dean of the Teacher Education Research Institute of NENU, released the research results of the report, including academic monographs, high-level papers, toolkits and resource libraries, practical achievements and social services, and made a report entitled “Primary and secondary school teachers’ work intensity: realistic examination, challenges and adjustment strategies”. Professor Liu Haimin from the Faculty of Education of NENUcommented on the China Teacher Development Report 2022, and other core members of the research group gave keynote speeches on the issues related to teachers’ work intensity in the development of primary and secondary school teachers.
The report takes the work intensity of primary and secondary school teachers in China as the breakthrough point, and develops an original research toolkit, focusing on four aspects: the allocation of teachers’ work time, the complexity of teachers’ work content, the input of teachers’ work energy and the feeling of teachers’ work. Based on the investigation and analysis of 51,381 primary and secondary school teachers in 31 provinces and cities in China, it aims to grasp the latest trends of teachers’ work intensity in China through comprehensive and in-depth investigation and research, and realize the rewarding and useful research, and enrich the connotation of Chinese teacher education modernization, and provide factual basis, data support, theoretical guidance and value guidance for the policy development of teachers’ professional development in China.

In the academic forum, Professor Deng Tao, Professor Zhao Lan, Professor Tang Lifang, Professor Zhang Cong, Associate Professor Liang Hongmei and Associate Professor Yang Jin from the Faculty of Education of NENU served as the academic hosts of the parallel forum respectively, and 24 well-known experts from universities, principals of primary and secondary schools and outstanding doctoral students from all over the country gave special reports respectively.
“China Teacher Development Report” is a series of research reports launched by the Teacher Education Research Institute of Northeast Normal University. It aims at studying the reform of the construction of primary and secondary school teachers and the high-quality development of basic education in China. Based on higher education, it studies teacher education and serves basic education, and comprehensively examines and digs the key issues in the construction and development of primary and secondary school teachers in China from a forward-looking, scientific and sensitive research perspective. The thematic study is launched every year, which has been released three times in a row so far, providing references for the research of teachers and the policy research of teacher team construction in China. The China Teacher Development Report 2022 released this time is the follow-up research result of the project “Literature Research on Teacher Education Policy” entrusted by the Teacher Affairs Department of the Ministry of Education, and also the stage research result of the major tender project “Research on the Path and Countermeasures of High-quality Education Development in China in the New Era” of the National Social Science Fund, which was jointly completed by many scholars such as Professor Li Guang, Professor Liu Haimin and Associate Professor Liang Hongmei of Northeast Normal University.
