On June 10th, the first working meeting of the Media Discipline Group of the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center in 2023 and the theme seminar “Promoting the high-quality development of practical education by consolidating the new infrastructure of teaching” were successfully held.
The conference was hosted by the Media Discipline Group of the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Colleges and Universities, and undertaken by the School of Media Science (School of Journalism) and the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Media Center. Wang Yan, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of NENU, delivered a speech at the meeting, and leaders and teachers from more than 20 national experimental teaching demonstration centers in China attended the meeting.
In his speech, Wang Yan introduced NENU’s long history, school-running philosophy and characteristics, fruitful achievements and the good school-running foundation of the School of Media Science (School of Journalism). He congratulated the successful convening of the conference, hoping to take this opportunity to promote the vigorous development of disciplines by relying on the high-level talent training platform, consult experts from various universities extensively, make up forthe shortcomings of disciplines, and make joint contributions to the training of national media talents.
Professor Zhang Wendong, Deputy Head of Media Discipline of National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center and Dean of School of Media Science (School of Journalism) of NENU made a speech, and he introduced the school’s professional layout, discipline development, laboratory construction and the talent training concept of “beautiful media people” to the guests, hoping to enlighten each other, exchange new practices, share new experiences, build new consensus and promote new cooperation through this seminar.
Professor Yu Ran, Head of the Media Discipline Group of the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center and deputy director of the Media Integration Center of Communication University of China, delivered a speech on behalf of the Media Discipline Group. He stressed that the Media Discipline Group should thoroughly implement the important guiding spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping on accelerating the construction of a strong educational country in higher education, actively play the main role and linkage function, attach great importance to the application of artificial intelligence scenarios and related technologies in experimental teaching in colleges and universities, and explore new methods and new paths for media experimental teaching and talent training against the background of the interconnection of all things and the integration of media and society.The keynote speech was divided into two sessions, which were presided over by Professor Xu Peng, Vice President of School of Media Science (School of Journalism) of NENU, and Professor Hong Jiewen, Vice President of School of Journalism and Communication of Wuhan University. Professor Yao Zheng, member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Communication University of Zhejiang, delivered a speech entitled “Exploration and Thinking of Integrating the Construction of National First-class Major in Film and Television and Communication into Curriculum Ideology and Politics”. Professor Bai Jing, director of the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of School of Journalism and Communication, Nanjing University, gave a speech on “How to Create the First-class Social Practice Course-Taking Future Editorial Department as an example”. Associate Professor Wang Bo, director of the Practice and Innovation Center of School of Computer and Cyberspace Security, Communication University of China, and supervisor of MA students, gave a speech on the theme of “Media Practice Teaching in Metauniverse-a New Stage of Virtual Simulation”. Teacher Luo Xuelei, deputy director of the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Journalism and Communication of China Renmin University, delivered a keynote speech “Discussion on the Reform Path of Journalism and Communication Experimental Teaching under the Background of New Liberal Arts”.Professor Xu Peng, Vice President of the School of Media Science (School of Journalism), gave a keynote speech on “Innovation and Exploration of the Cultivation of Media Practical Talents of‘Beautiful Media People’”. Subsequently, the participating scholars conducted in-depth discussions on the theme of “Promoting the High-quality Development of Practical Education by Consolidating Teaching’ New Infrastructure”. Finally, director of the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Tianjin Normal University and Liu Weidong, director of the Teaching Steering Committee of the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Media in NENU, madeacademic summary and closing speeches. During the meeting, the delegates visited the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of the School and learned the basic situation of the school’s practice platform and laboratory construction in detail.
This seminar has provided a demonstration and leading role for the high-quality development of the media discipline group in the national experimental teaching demonstration center, better played the platform role and radiation effect of high-quality experimental teaching resources, built a good exchange and mutual learning platform for the discipline group, and played an important role in promoting the strengthening of practical education and improving the teaching level in colleges and universities.
