On May 24th, at the invitation of the Institute of World Medieval History, Professor Liu Jinghua, President of the China Research Institute of World Medieval History, Chairman of the China Professional Committee of World Medieval History and Doctoral Supervisor of the Institute of European Civilization of Tianjin Normal University, gave a lecture entitled “Medieval Cities and the Rise of Economic Civilization in Western Europe”.
Professor Liu Jinghua introduced his academic experience and Professor Wu Yuqin’s view of “the integral world history”. Based on a large number of first-hand documents and materials, Professor Liu Jinghua expounded the emergence of new economic concepts, modern accounting systems, modern financial systems and modern enterprise systems in medieval cities. He believes that the new economic concept includes commodity currency consciousness, market consciousness and pioneering spirit, as well as new business view, consumption view and time view. The use of double-entry bookkeeping method has the characteristics of rational valuation, and it is an efficient and simple modern accounting tool. After the lecture, Professor Liu Jinghua had exchanges with teachers and students in NENU on academic issues.
