From November 14 to 17, the 2024 World Chinese Conference was held in Beijing. Under the theme "Connecting and Integrating, Inheriting and Innovating," the conference invited nearly 2,000 participants from over 160 countries and regions, including officials from education departments, international organizations, universities from both China and abroad, and global language and cultural promotion institutions. The conference hosted a series of events, such as a thematic seminar celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Confucius Institutes, the Global HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) Partners Conference, and the 2024 Global Chinese Language Alliance Conference. Discussions focused on topics like the future development of Confucius Institutes, the establishment and promotion of international Chinese language education standards, and the digital and intelligent transformation of language education.
At the Confucius Institute Directors' Global Competence Seminar, Vicente Andreu, the foreign director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Valencia, served as both the moderator and speaker.
