NENU Selected as One of Jilin's Pilot Universities for AI General Education

Published:September 17, 2025 Review:

NENU has been selected as one of the pilot universities for AI General Education (AIGE) in Jilin Province, according to a recently released list by the Education Department of Jilin Province.

In recent years, NENU has actively responded to the national strategy for digital education by systematically promoting the deep integration of AI into its teaching system. The university has launched the “Action Plan for Empowering Undergraduate Education with Digital Intelligence” and established special research projects to support this initiative. Leveraging the expertise team at the School of Information Science and Technology, NENU has developed a progressive AI general education curriculum structured around “Cognition, Principles, Application, and Innovation”. This curriculum is designed to comprehensively enhance students’ digital literacy and innovative capabilities. The new pilot program will center on the general education course “Essential AI Literacy”, which features modular teaching, project-based learning, and an interdisciplinary approach. Through this program, NENU aims to offer a proven and adaptable model for AIGE that can be adopted by universities throughout the province.

This pilot program is a key measure under the “Three-Year Action Plan for High-Quality AI-Enabled Education Development in Jilin Province (2025–2027)”. It aims to systematically advance the development of an AI general education system in universities across the province, cultivate core AI competencies among non-computer science students, and develop high-quality courses and shareable experiences to accelerate the development of interdisciplinary, innovative talent for the digital age.
