Published:September 30, 2025 Review:

On September 28, NENU and the Tin Ka Ping Foundation jointly held the “Forum on Improving the Original Ecology Research in Schools & the Tin Ka Ping Schools High-Quality Development Project Training Program.” Chang Qing, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice President of NENU, and Tin Hing Sin, Chairman of the Board of Tin Ka Ping Foundation, attended the event and delivered opening remarks.

Participants included Members of the Board of Tin Ka Ping Foundation Tai Hay Lap, project officer Lau Sau King, and expert Wu Jie Rong; heads of the NENU Alumni Affairs Office and National Training Center for Kindergarten Principals, Ministry of Education; project team experts from the Faculty of Education, including Professors Liu Haimin, Liang Hongmei, and Zhang Cong, and Associate Professor Yang Jin; and school leaders and leading teachers from 10 Tin Ka Ping schools across China’s three northeastern provinces and one region(Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region).

During the symposium session, Professor Liu Haimin, the project’s chief expert, delivered a keynote report on the basis, content, and framework of the “Compilation of the 15th Five-Year Plan” for primary and secondary schools. Representatives from the Tin Ka Ping schools presented on two core topics: the construction of a school cultural system and the implementation of an “X” module focused on key development and quality enhancement. The project expert group provided commentary, and Mr. Tai Hay Lap offered guidance from the perspectives of experience, practice, and theory.

In the practical session, school representatives conducted a site visit to the High School Attached to Northeast Normal University to observe its educational environment and campus culture. They also met with the heads of the Chinese and Mathematics teaching and research groups to discuss cutting-edge issues in secondary education. The principal of the affiliated high school delivered a report titled “Promoting the Ethos of Educators to Build a High-Quality Educational System,” sharing the practical experiences gained from the school’s long-term commitment to educational reform.

During the forum, the delegation from the Tin Ka Ping Foundation, as the sponsoring organization, also received progress reports from the project teams for the “Development Report on the Teacher Education in China(2025)” and the “China Kindergarten Development Report(2025)”.

In 2024, the Tin Ka Ping Foundation commissioned NENU to undertake the High-Quality Development Project for Tin Ka Ping Schools. The collaboration aims to explore innovative pathways for improving the original ecology in schools and to advance the high-quality development of Tin Ka Ping schools and basic education throughout the nation.
