On October 31, the 2025 Northeast Six Universities Presidents Forum was held at Dalian University of Technology under the theme “Deepening Organized Research to Support Self-reliance and Strength in Science and Technology.” Reports were delivered successively by Han Jiecai, President of Harbin Institute of Technology; Zhang Xi, President of Jilin University; Feng Xiatin, President of Northeastern University; Yin Jingwei, President of Harbin Engineering University; Xu Haiyang, President of Northeast Normal University; and Gao Xiang, President of Dalian University of Technology.
The participating presidents unanimously agreed that, as “Double First-Class” universities established by the Party and the state in Northeast China, the six institutions should play a leading role in bolstering self-reliance and self-strengthening in science and technology and supporting the full revitalization of northeast China in the new era. They emphasized that the forum should serve as a new starting point for deepening inter-university cooperation, pooling regional strength in education, science, technology, and talent, and jointly contribute the strength of Northeast universities to building a leading country in in education, science and technology, and talent; to the revitalization of Northeast China in the new era; and to the advancement of Chinese modernization.
