On December 2, NENU held a special meeting to promote the “Double First-Class” initiative. President Xu Haiyang presided over the meeting and delivered a speech. NENU Party and administrative leaders Wei Min, Xue Lifeng, Wu Zhihui, Liu Jiuqing, Pang Lisheng; Standing Committee Members of the CPC Committee Wang Na, Li Hongquan, Xie Ling; and Assistant Presidents Bai Bing and Shao Zhihao attended the meeting. Principal heads from various colleges (faculties), units, and relevant discipline leaders of NENU also participated.
At the meeting, responsible persons from ten first-level disciplines—Marxist Theory, Education, World History, Chemistry, Statistics, Materials Science and Engineering, Biology, Ecology, Mathematics, and Art Studies—of NENU reported sequentially on the progress of development during the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, conducted comparative analyses of current problems and challenges, and clarified future development goals and improvement measures. Attending university leaders, Standing Committee Members of the CPC Committee, and Assistant Presidents respectively put forward constructive opinions and suggestions regarding key measures for advancing the “Double First-Class” initiative.
This year marks the concluding year of the second round of the “Double First-Class” initiative. This meeting was an important conference for NENU to fully implement the educational philosophy of General Secretary Xi Jinping and the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, to solidly promote the development of advantageous disciplines, and to ensure the successful conclusion of the second round of the “Double First-Class” initiative. It is of great significance for the entire University to strengthen confidence, build consensus, pool strengths, and scientifically plan the development blueprint for the “15th Five-Year Plan” period and the third round of the “Double First-Class” initiative.
