On March 31, the University Sports Committee, the School of Physical Education, and the Committee of Communist Youth League jointly held the launch ceremony for the Sports Carnival celebrating NENU’s 80th anniversary, the opening ceremony of the 2026 University Students’ Sports Clubs season, and a campus health orienteering run. President Xu Haiyang and Vice President Wu Zhihui attended the event together with heads of the Office of Student Affairs, the Office of Graduate Affairs, the Office of Academic Affairs, the Committee of Communist Youth League, the Comprehensive Gymnasium Management Center, and the School of Physical Education, as well as more than 800 faculty and student representatives.
At the launch ceremony, Zhou Yang, Olympic champion and young faculty member of the School of Physical Education, delivered a speech. The attending leaders then jointly fired the starting pistol for the “Healthy NENU” campus orienteering run.
The University Sports Clubs Showcase was held on Tongxin Road. Clubs specializing in ball sports, traditional martial arts, outdoor activities, winter sports, and aerobic fitness presented distinctive demonstrations and engaged in enthusiastic interactions. These activities showcased the diverse achievements, vibrant practices, and educational spirit of the university’s extracurricular sports programs, further igniting the passion of both faculty and students for physical activity.
NENU will continue to give full play to the educational role of sports, nurture more students with sound moral grounding, intellectual ability, physical vigor, aesthetic sensibility, and work skills, and guide students to build physical strength and foster solidarity through sports. With the vigor of youth and the spirit of sports, students will present the most vibrant tribute to the NENU’s 80th anniversary.
