NENU held a themed gala on April 26 to commemorate the 107th anniversary of the May Fourth Movement. Titled “Carrying the Torch of a Century, Igniting the Spirit of a New Generation,” the event was co-organized by the NENU Committee of the Communist Youth League and the NENU Aesthetic Education Committee, and hosted by the School of Music and Dance. The gala took place at the Concert Hall of the Jingyue Campus, with faculty and student representatives from various schools and departments in attendance.
Centered on the May Fourth spirit and anchored by the theme of youthful dedication, the gala brought together a diverse range of artistic forms, including dance, vocal performance, instrumental music, poetry recitation, and martial arts. Through skillful and heartfelt performances, students paid tribute to the transformative legacy of the May Fourth Movement while vividly expressing the sense of mission and responsibility that defines young people in the new era. The gala fully showcased the determination, ideals, and enterprising spirit of NENU students, using the arts to carry forward a legacy of inspiration spanning over a century.
More than an artistic showcase, the gala served as an immersive experience in patriotic education and aesthetic practice. By integrating ideological education with artistic expression, the event transformed the stage into a living classroom — one that nurtures character, cultivates values through beauty, and inspires through culture. The gala called on NENU students to carry forward the May Fourth tradition, embrace the responsibilities of their generation, and write their own chapter of youth in building a great modern socialist country and advancing the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
