The first report of "Erya NENU――Traditional Culture Forum" of this semester was held on March 8th, in which Professor Zhao Minli, Director of the Research Center of Chinese Poetry, was invited to give an academic report entitled "the Revival of Chinese Traditional Cultures and the Development of Contemporary Cultures ".
At the report, Professor Zhao reviewed the revival of the studies of Chinese Traditional Cultures throughout the past 20 years, analyzed the original meaning of the term, its background, its fate in the 20th century, the reason why it regained attention at the end of 20th century and its value in the 21th century. Professor Zhao Minli also expressed his own opinions on its relationship with traditional and western culture, science and democracy, and contemporary cultural construction. After the report, Professor Zhao exchanged opinions with site teachers and students on how to revive Chinese Traditional Cultures and how to deal with its relationship with reality.
